Congratulations to Ken Calway on back-to-back Gary Carroll Playoff MVP honours. Ken is known for his hot bat come playoff time. He led the team with 5 RBI in the playoffs. In game 4, when it looked like the Dodgers were on the verge of elimination down 1-0 in the top of the eighth inning, Ken hit a 3 run homerun to extend the series. The next night he came through again scoring the winning run with his sacrifice fly in the top of the 9th.
Ted McComb Pitcher of the Year
Congratulations to the 2006 Ted McComb Pitcher of the Year, Matt Tosoni who led the team in ERA and is the all-time Dodgers leader in games started. Matt stepped up in big game situations this season including Crohn’s and Colitis Day, the Troy May tribute game and produced 3 quality playoff appearances. He has overcome great adversity to be pitching with the Dodgers this season and is also one of the team’s top hitters.
Bernie McGuire Season MVP
The 2006 Bernie McGuire Season MVP, Ryan Crotin, led the team in most offensive categories. Ryan was 3rd in the IBL in batting and represented the Dodgers at 3rd base in the 2006 IBL All-Star game. He was most recently named a first team all-star as an outfielder for the second time in his Dodger career. He is a team leader whose energetic attitude has made him a fan favourite. Since joining the team in 2002 Ryan has consistently led the team in many categories.
Max Reid Award
The Max Reid Award is awarded to the Oshawa Dodger Player who most displays the qualities of perseverance and dedication. This award was named for Max Reid, father of former Oshawa Dodger Darryl Reid. Max was involved with the conception of the Dodgers in 2001 but sadly passed away in January of 2002 prior to the Dodgers inaugural game. This season’s recipient battled through injury to lead the Dodgers in wins and innings pitched despite suffering from a torn ACL. His intensity and desire to win made him a pitcher to be reckoned with. We are pleased to award Greg Byron with the Max Reid Award for Perseverance and Dedication.
Bob Reid Batting Average Award
The Bob Reid Batting Average Award winner will come as no surprise. Ryan Crotin was one of our two representatives at the 2006 IBL All-Star game. He consistently comes through in key situations and is a team leader. Ryan led the Dodgers and was 3rd in the IBL with a .378 batting average.
Vi Christopher On Base %
The 2006 Vi Christopher On Base % Award winner was second in the IBL with a .472 on base %. This infielder/outfielder led the team in hits and base on balls. We are honoured to present Ryan Crotin with the 2006 On Base % Award.
Rookie of the Year
The Andy Stewart Rookie of the Year for 2006 Nick DeSanctis batted .302 with a .367 on base percentage. He made an impression with his clutch hits and ability to get on base. Congratulations to Nick DeSanctis our 2006 Rookie of the Year.
