Calway and Crotin Lead Offence

The Oshawa Dodgers did something this weekend that they have never done in
the past.  They played exhibition games to get ready for their upcoming
Intercounty schedule. On Saturday the Dodgers played the Kendal Royals of the
Eastern Ontario Senior League. The Dodgers jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and
cruised to a 10-1 victory. Providing the offence for the dodgers was Ken Calway
3/4 with 2 Doubles and 4 RBI;  Ryan Crotin 2/4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI; Craig
Megill 2/4 with 1 RBI; Brett Prosper 1/3; Pat Smith 1/3 with an RBI; Kevin
Hussey 1/3 with an RBI; and junior call-up Darren Sawyer 1/2.  Brian Sewell
started and went 3 innings striking out 4. Ian Okorofsky cameo on in relief for
the final 4 innings striking out 6.
New Dodgers' Manager Mike Prosper had this to say " It felt good to on the field
and play a game. We hit the ball well today."

On Sunday the Dodgers played the Ajax Spartans of the Eastern Ontario Senior
League. Ajax jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Oshawa scored 2 to tie the game in
the third. Ajax again took the lead 3-2 until the top of the 7th when Ajax scored
twice more to take a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, trailing by 3 runs, the
Dodgers mounted a comeback and with the bases loaded and 2 out with the
score now 5-3 Ryan Crotin belted a 3 run double off the wall in left field. Darren
Sawyer scored from first to cap the 7th inning comeback. Top hitters for the
Dodgers were Ryan Crotin 2/4, 2 doubles with 5 RBI; Jon Theibaud 2/2 with 2
walks; junior call-up Chris Sheridan 3 walks and 2 runs scored; Mick Kurhan
1/3;  and Craig Megill 1/3. Chris Kemlo started the game and went 3 strong
innings striking out 5. Pat Smith then came on in the 4th going 2 innings striking
out 2 and junior call-up Blake Prior finished the game going 2 innings and striking
out 1 Ajax batter.
Dodgers Third Base coach Troy May had this to say, "We are never out of a
game as long as we have an out left.  Today was a great character builder for us.
It was only an exhibition game but it shows the heart this team has".

The Dodgers open their Intercounty season at Home on Saturday May 6th at 2:00
PM at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium vs the Stratford Nationals. Prize give-a-ways
every inning.
