The Oshawa Dodgers are pleased to announce the additions of
Kyle Sheppard and Brandon Sheridan to the Dodgers coaching
staff.

Sheppard and Sheridan—both former standouts as players with
the Oshawa Juniors—join manager Mike Prosper’s staff after
coaching third base for the Juniors. Sheppard held the position in
2004, while Sheridan handled the duties in 2005.

“We, the Dodger organization, are ecstatic to be bringing on
these two great, young coaches,” Prosper said. “They both bring
impressive resumes as players, and both come from outstanding
baseball families.”

Sheppard—whose father Jim Sheppard coaches the Juniors—is
an alumnus of Team Ontario, the Oshawa Juniors, St. Clair
Community College, and Saginaw Valley State University.

He won back-to-back Ontario championships with the Juniors in
2002 and 2003, handling most of the catching duties. In addition
to coaching third base, Sheppard handled most of the pitch
selection during his time coaching the Juniors.

Sheppard is also an assistant coach for Saginaw Valley’s men’s
volleyball team.

“Kyle was born to be a coach,” Prosper said. “The Dodgers are
lucky to be able to use his knowledge as a resource this season.”

This will be a reunion of sorts for Sheridan, who—after finishing
a 13-year career in the Oshawa minor baseball system as a
player—coached with Prosper with the Oshawa midget rep team
in 2004 and 2005. In 2006, he coached third for the Juniors,
losing in the finals of the Ontario Elimination tournament.

“I’m very excited to be coaching again with Brandon,” Prosper
said, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with him and his father,
and he has a bright future ahead of him in this game.”

These young coaches actually grew up playing against one
another. Brandon played for his father, Dave Sheridan
throughout his minor baseball career in Oshawa. Meanwhile,
Kyle and his father, Jim, frequently opposed the Sheridans
during their ascent through the Ajax and Pickering minor
baseball associations.

With the additions of Sheppard and Sheridan to the Dodger
family, there are now 9 former players from the three Oshawa
Junior Ontario Championship squads (2002, 2003, 2005) now
associated with the Dodgers. Sheppard and Sheridan join players
Mick Kurhan, Phil Stone, Aaron Gordon, Scott Robinson, Mike
Dahiroc, Chris Papalia, and Brad McConnachie.
