Matt Tosoni Named Big East Pitcher of the Week
St. John's junior Matt Tosoni earned his third career
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor after tossing a
complete-game four-hitter in a win over Pittsburgh
on Saturday.
Tosoni needed just 101 pitches – 71 strikes – in going
the distance against the Panthers. He struck out four
batters, walked just one and allowed four hits in the
team's first complete game effort of the season.
Tosoni took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and continued his dominance in
BIG EAST play, improving to 3-0 with a 1.96 earned run average in three
conference appearances in 2007.
