Oshawa Dodgers 8, St. Thomas Storm 7

This is first time I have ever been able to say the Dodgers are in
first place in the Intercounty League!!
It won’t last long but for today every team is chasing the Oshawa
Dodgers.
For today at least I know how Jack feels the rest of the season.

The Oshawa Dodgers started the season today the best way
possible with 2 wins.
The wins were very different and showed Manager Troy May the
type of team he has for the 2003 season.
In game # 1 Vs. the St. Thomas Storm the Dodgers found
themselves down 6-0 after 2 1/2 innings. Then in the 3rd inning
things changed, with 1 out and the Dodgers threatening with the
bases loaded the rain came and it came fast and hard. After a 1
hour and 15 minute rain delay and GREAT work by Bob Reid and
his ground crew the field was playable.
The Dodgers scored 3 runs to cut the Storm lead in half. Over the
next 3 innings the Dodgers scored 4 more runs and the Storm
scored 1 run to set the stage for the 7th inning. Jeremy Hartin
blasted a triple and Mick Kurhan lifted a sacrifice fly to centre to
score Hartin from third with the winning run.
Manager Troy May had this to say "We had 2 options during the
rain delay, pack it in down 6-0 or fight back and make this game
interesting, the boys decided to make it interesting and that's
what they did".
Coach Gary Minacs had this to say" It shows you what the kind of
heart this team has to come back from 6-0 to win that game"
"Last year down 6-0 we would have ended up losing the game 8-2"
Highlights from Game # 1: Tony Quick did not get out with 4
walks, 2 stolen bases and scored 3 runs, Darryl Reid went 2-2 with
2 walks, Ken Calway had 3 RBI, Mick Kurhan had 2 RBI. Jeremy
Hartin found composite bats aren't too bad.
Winning Pitcher: Jamaal Joseph (1-0).
