In Toronto, Mike Grieve singled home the winning run in the
bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Maple Leafs to a 2-1 win
over the Oshawa Dodgers Sunday at Christie Pits.
David Hatch (1-0) retired the final two batters in the ninth inning
for the win. Starter Paul Spoljaric struck out six batters while
allowing one hit in three innings and Hans Schnell allowed one
unearned run and two hits in 5 1/3 innings of relief.
Rob Patterson gave Toronto the lead with an RBI double in the
fourth inning.
Oshawa tied the game on an error in the eighth inning and
reliever Chris England (0-1) allowed the winning run and three
hits in 3 2/3 innings.
