Oshawa Dodgers 4, Barrie Baycats 2
The Oshawa Dodgers opened the 2004 Intercounty Baseball
League season with a 4-2 victory on the road over the Barrie
Baycats.

middle and in the fourth scored twice more on a Kevin Wallace
(Junior Call-up) two-run two out double over the head of Baycats
centerfielder Jonathan Baksh.
Other Oshawa hits went to second year All-Star Short Stop Mick
Kurhan who registered an RBI double.
He also made his debut behind the plate as the Dodgers’ starting
catcher and made an outstanding bases loaded catch while sliding
and crashing into the fence behind home plate to end the inning.
Former San Francisco Double AA standout with the Norwich
Navigators ,Vance Cozier (1-0) pitched a masterful five innings as
he kept the Baycats guessing at the plate.
Cozier gave up one unearned run and three hits in five innings
for the win.
Dan Nauth, former CIBA All-Canadian at Queens University,
finished the game with one run in four innings for his first save.
Former Boston Red Sox minor leaguer Angus Roy (0-1)
surrendered three runs and three hits in four innings to take the
loss for Barrie.
Former Oshawa Junior Jared McCord and Baksh each had a pair
of hits for the Baycats.
Cam Newitt pitched 2 solid innings in relief for Barrie.
As the only game played on Opening day the Dodgers sit in First
place in the Intercounty League standings.
This win was very satisfying for us today we had 5 Junior call ups
in our starting line up and they played great, says Manager Troy
May.
With the win Dodgers Manager Troy May now has 592 wins in his
18 years of coaching Baseball.
Just 8 short of the Magical 600 win mark.
