Oshawa Dodgers 8, Guelph Royals 7 (12 innings)

In what was the longest game in Oshawa Dodgers history,12
innings, 4 hours and 10 minutes, the Oshawa Dodgers beat the
Guelph Royals 8-7 in 12 innings.
Dodgers’ starting pitcher Gord Robertson in his first ever
Intercounty start,  pitched 4 solid innings, giving up 4 unearned
runs.
Adam Clarke came on in relief and pitched 4 more solid innings,
giving up 2 unearned runs.
Ryan Fraser (0-0) pitched the 9th inning giving up 1 run.
Vance Cozier (3-0) pitched 3 innings giving up no runs on 5 hits
and 1 strikeout.
The Dodgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning but the
Dodgers then let the Royals score 4 runs (all unearned) as
Oshawa made 4 errors. The Dodgers scored 1 run to tie the score
at 4. Guelph scored 3 runs to take a 7-4 lead into the 9th inning.
Oshawa scored 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score
and left the bases loaded to end the ninth.
In the bottom of the 12th inning the Dodgers loaded the bases and
Pat Tobin worked the count to 3-2 and took ball 4 to end the game.
We really battled tonight, we played awful defence and only 1 of
their 7 runs was earned. This was a measuring stick for us tonight.
Guelph are the defending Intercounty Champions and we showed
ourselves we can play with them.
Their starting pitcher, Aaron Little (8 innings pitched) was the
Playoff MVP last year and Paul Bruder (4 innings pitched) is the
best graduating Junior pitcher this season. “We beat 2 very good
pitchers tonight,” says Dodgers coach Gary Minacs.
