In Game one Dodgers Starting pitcher Dan Nauth (2-1-1) returned
to the form that saw him selected to the 2004 Canada University
team for the upcoming World University Baseball Championships
in Chinese Taipei.
Nauth threw the first complete game for the Dodgers this season
tossing 7 scoreless innings, while scattering 5 hits, striking out 6
and walking only 3.
Dan threw only 76 pitches in his 7 innings.
The Dodgers defence was at its best on this day.
The following was typical of how the game went. London's leadoff
hitter was walked to open the game, he then stole second and
went to third base as the throw from the Dodgers’ catcher sailed
into centre field.  With a runner on third and no outs Nauth then
struck out the next batter.  Runner on third 1 out. The next
London batter popped up to second.  Runner on third 2 out.
The 4th London batter hit a rocket between first and second but
Junior call-up Brad McConnachie dove to his left came up with the
ball and threw the batter out at first.  Runner on third inning over
0 Runs.
Oshawa turned 4 double plays in game #1.
Mick Kurhan went 3/3 with 2 RBI.
Adam Sylvestre went 1/2 with 2 RBI.
All the Dodgers’ runs were scored in the 4th inning.
“We did all the little things right in the first game, big strike
outs, huge double plays and hits with 2 outs,” says Dodgers Coach
Gary Minacs.
