Kitchener Panthers 11, Oshawa Dodgers 9
In Oshawa, Ben Kangas’ two-run single in the 10th inning drove
in the winning run as the Kitchener Panthers downed the Oshawa
Dodgers 11-9 in one of three Intercounty Baseball League games
Saturday.
Kangas led the Panthers with three hits and five RBI’s including
a double. Craig Stroh also had three hits for Kitchener.
Brian Carter’s lead-off home run in the ninth broke a 4-4 tie only
to have Oshawa tie the game in the bottom of the inning on
Darryl Reid’s solo home run. Reid also had a single and two RBI’s.
Dane Wolfe had four hits for Oshawa as did Greg Speed with two
doubles, a triple and a single along with two RBI’s.
Winning pitcher Wes Koch (3-0) came on in relief of Tyler
Wilson, pitching 2 1/3 innings with five runs and seven hits
allowed and two strikeouts. Starter Brad Hay went seven innings
allowing three runs, all earned and four hits.
Losing pitcher was Brian Sewell (3-7) who gave up three runs, two
earned, and four hits in three innings. Scott Robinson started for
Oshawa, going seven innings and allowing four runs, only one was
earned, on seven hits and one strikeout.
