Pennell Leads Nationals to 13-4 Victory
Stratford Nationals scored early and often as they downed the Oshawa
Dodgers 12-4 in the opening game of an IBL doubleheader in Kinsmen Stadium
today (Saturday).
Shawn Gillespie (2-2) earned the win going seven innings and allowing four
earned runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out five batters. Matt Tosoni
of the Dodgers was saddled with the loss as he yielded five earned runs on
eight hits and a walk through three innings. He got two batters on strikes.
Justin Pennell led Stratford hitters with four hits including two home runs, one
a bases loaded effort and the other of the solo variety. In all he batted in five
runs. Carlkos Zuniga had three hits and four RBIs and Eric Wolfe added a solo
home run. He had four hits.
For Oshawa, Ken Calway had a single and a three-run home run in the bottom
of the seventh, and four RBI.
