The Barrie Baycats moved into a first place tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Intercounty Baseball League with a 6-1 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in one of two games played in the league Wednesday night.
Jake Hines pitched six solid innings for the win, allowing three runs, all unearned, on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks to help the Baycats improve to 6-1, tied with the idle Leafs for top spot.
Matt Richardson hit a solo homer in the second inning to open the scoring for the Baycats, while Dave Latour had three hits and drove in a run. Ryan Spataro added a double and a triple and scored twice for Barrie, as the Baycats survived making five errors and made the most of their 10 hits.
Loser Cam Gray went six innings for Oshawa (5-3), allowing four runs – two earned – on seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Sean
