In Guelph, Kris Dabrowiecki pitched seven strong innings as the Royals picked up their sixth straight win, a 3-2 decision over the Oshawa Dodgers in a game shortened to seven innings due to rain.
Dabrowiecki allowed two runs – one earned – on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks in going seven innings before severe lightning and rain washed out the rest of the game.
The Royals went ahead for good with two runs in the fifth inning, one of them coming on a solo home run by Mark Allen, and held on for the victory. Guelph had seven hits, including two by Kyle Leon, to move 2 ½ games behind Barrie for first place in the IBL.
Loser cam Gray also went all the way for Oshawa, allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks as the Dodgers slipped back to .500 with the loss (10-10).
Mike Reeves had two hits and drove in a run for Oshawa, who managed just four hits.
