Dodgers Can't Complete Comeback Versus Panthers
In Oshawa, the Kitchener Panthers scored the game-winning run on an
error in the top of the ninth inning, giving them a 6-5 win over the
Oshawa Dodgers.
Kitchener took a 4-0 lead after three innings but the Dodgers rallied for
three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie the game 5-5 before
the Panthers pushed across the winning run in the ninth.
Matt Taube had four hits for the Panthers, including a home run, and
drove in two runs to help Kitchener move to within a game of seventh
place Hamilton in the IBL standings. Chris Novia also drove in two runs
for the Panthers.
Reliever Russ Deutschmann picked up the win, going 2 1/3 shutout
innings and allowing three hits, with one strikeout and two walks.
Brandon Agnew, the third of four Oshawa pitchers, was the loser,
allowing one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings.
Sean Mattson led Oshawa with four hits, while Brendan Emmett had three
hits and drove in a pair of runs.
