In Oshawa, the Barrie Baycats kept paced with the league-leading Guelph Royals by outlasting the Oshawa Dodgers 16-11 Wednesday night in one of three Intercounty Baseball League games.
Dave Latour led Barrie with five hits including a solo home run and three RBI’s while Todd Betts had four hits with three RBI’s and Randy Schwartz had three hits including a two run home run and three RBI’s.
Winning pitcher Chris England (2-3) went six innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on 14 hits, five strikeouts and one walk. Scott Price and Brad Bissell finished up.
Ryan Fleming led the Dodgers at the plate with three hits including a two- run triple and four RBI’s. Mark Jeffrey and Jason Castaldo each had three hits and an RBI.
Losing pitcher Aaron Gordon (0-1) started for Oshawa and last 1 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs, eight earned, on 11 hits. He was relieved by Cam Alkins who went 6 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs on 11 hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Scott Kelly finished up.
