Dodgers Win 10 Inning Thriller to Take Game One of Best of 7 Series
In Barrie, Cam Gray pitched 10 brilliant innings as the Oshawa Dodgers scored an upset on day one of the IBL playoffs, downing the Barrie Baycats 3-1.
Gray allowed one run on eight hits with nine strikeouts and one walk in a stellar complete game effort to give Oshawa the win in the series opener. This is the first time in team history that the Dodgers have won the opening game of a playoff series. The Dodgers finished seven games behind Barrie in the regular season standings.
Game two in the series is Sunday night in Oshawa.
Tyler Johnstone drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the 10th inning and had four hits for the Dodgers. Sean Travers added a pair of hits for Oshawa.
Paul Spoljaric was also terrific for the Baycats, going nine innings. He allowed one run on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks before Kyle Payne came on in the 10th and took the loss. Payne allowed two runs on three hits with two walks.
Jared McCord’s solo homer in the second inning accounted for the lone Barrie run. McCord and Dave Latour both had two hits for Barrie.
