Leafs move into 1st place with win over Dodgers Drew Taylor pitched six strong innings to win his third game of the young season and Jeremy Walker had three hits including a three- run home run as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Oshawa Dodgers 12-9 in one of three games played in the Intercounty Baseball league on Sunday.
The Maple Leafs took advantage of seven errors to move into first place in the IBL with a 3-1 record, a half-game ahead of the 2-1 Dodgers.
Taylor (3-0) went six strong innings to pick up his third straight Sunday afternoon win of the season. He allowed three runs but they were all unearned on five hits, striking out five and walking one. He's now allowed just one earned run in 16 innings pitched to date. Leaf batters pounded out 14 hits. Raul Borjas also had three hits and drove in a run and Kyle Morton and Jon Fernandez both added a pair of hits for the winners.
Oshawa starter Chris Nagorski took the loss, allowing five runs – all unearned – on seven hits, with many of the Dodgers seven errors costly ones. Kyle Fillier led Oshawa with three hits and three RBI and also scored three runs, while former Leaf Sean Travers contributed a pair of hits.
