Fleming's Heroics Vault Dodgers Over Royals to Snap Three Game Skid
Ryan Fleming hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Oshawa Dodgers past the Guelph Royals 9-7 in the lone IBL game played on Monday. Oshawa improved to 5-4 with the win and snapped a three-game losing streak while the Royals slipped to 5-5, with the Dodgers taking over fifth place with the win and the Royals slipping to a tie for sixth with the loss. Reliever Adam Garner got the win, allowing one unearned run on three hits over 2 1/3 innings, striking out four. Keith Grills struck out two batters in the ninth to earn the save. Tyler Patzalek had two hits and drove in two runs for the Dodgers, while Sean Travers had a hit, two walks and a sacrifice. Losing reliever Craig Fairfull allowed four runs on four hits over three innings, striking out one and walking three in relief of starter Craig Hawkins, who gave up five runs on seven hits over five innings. Sean Reilly had three hits for the Royals, including two doubles and a homer, and drove in three runs. Andrew Karkoulas and Jeremy Ware both added two hits for Guelph.
